Even that nowadays we can found canned sweet potato jelly or their varieties (with chocolate or cherries) at any supermarket or store, nothing is better than to make it at home, ensuring the raw material quality, and avoids the consuming of preservatives and other products that big factories use.

We can share sweet potato jelly at any time, it is very good for breakfast, or for after lunch, like a snack in the afternoon, or like something sweet that invite us to end a long day.

Sweet potato jelly recipe

This recipe is simple and the best to surprise the family sweet tooth.

Sweet potato jelly ingredients:

  • 1 kilo of smashed sweet potatoes.
  • 750 gr. of sugar.
  • 1 tablespoon of glucose.
  • 1 tablespoon of agar agar gum (you can replace it with no flavor jelly).
  • 50 cc of cold water.
  • 1 tablespoon of vanilla essence.

Preparation:

  • In a saucepan, put the smashed sweet potato with the sugar and the glucose.
  • Carry the saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly with a wooden spoon, until mixture pulls away from the bottom of the pan.
  • Dissolve the agar agar gum into cold water and add it to the mixture.
  • Cook it for a few more minutes; never stop stirring, until the mixture nearly solidifies.
  • Add the vanilla extract and remove from heat.           
  • Pour the mixture into a pudding mold, previously lined with paper. Cool and unmold.
  • Keep the sweet potato jelly in the refrigerator in a covered container.
